Use Journal on a foldable iPhone
See how Journal changes when your foldable iPhone is closed and when it is open.
On a foldable iPhone, Journal fits the screen you have. Closed, it works like a normal iPhone. Open, it shows two columns.
When it is closed
Section titled “When it is closed”The buttons move into a side bar next to the screen: the menu (☰), notifications (the bell), the filter, and + to start a new entry. Everything else works as on any iPhone.
When it is open
Section titled “When it is open”Your journal list sits on the left. The entry you pick, or the new entry form, opens on the right, so you can keep scrolling the list while you read.
- Tap an entry in the list to read it on the right. The selected entry is highlighted.
- Tap + to start a new entry. The form opens on the right.
- While you write, a Draft row stays at the top of the list. Tap it to come back to the draft. See Use drafts.
- The other sections, such as Equipment, People and Analytics, use the same list-and-detail layout.
Open and close the phone at any point. Your place in the app stays put.
